1. Jesus is the fulfillment of prophecy

The New Testament is clear that Jesus is the fulfillment of prophecy. In Matthew, we read that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, just as the prophet Micah had predicted (Matthew 2:5-6). Furthermore, the Old Testament predicted that the Messiah would be a descendant of King David (Isaiah 11:1; Jeremiah 23:5; Ezekiel 34:23-24), and Jesus was born into the royal line of David (Matthew 1:1; Luke 3:31).

Second, Hebrews 4:15 says "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin." 4. Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life

When Jesus was teaching in the synagogue at Nazareth, He opened the scroll of Isaiah and read from it: "The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor" (Luke 4:18-19). And this promise is repeated in John 11:25-26: "Jesus said to her [Martha], 'I am the resurrection and the life. There are many other verses that confirm that Jesus Christ is God. In Titus 2:13, we read that Jesus is “our great God and Savior.” In Hebrews 1:8, we read that Jesus is the “Lord of Lords.” And in Revelation 19:16, we read that Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

As the Alpha and Omega, Jesus is the beginning and end of all things. He is the first and last letter of the alphabet, representing all that is good and perfect. As the First and Last, Jesus existed before all things and will exist after all things. He is eternal and unchanging. In Revelation 1:8, we read, "I am Alpha and Omega, says Lord God Almighty who was who is to come." And in Revelation 2:8b-9a we read about Jesus saying to John,"...I am he who lives forevermore..."

And finally, as the Beginning and End, Jesus is both our starting point on our journey to salvation as well as our final destination. In Revelation 21:6-7 we read, "And he said unto me it is done I am Alpha Omega...the beginning and ending says Lord which is which which are which Amen."

So what do these titles tell us about Jesus? First of all, they show us that he is eternal. Secondly, they show us that he is sovereign over all creation

7. Jesus Defeated Death

When Jesus died on the cross, he defeated death. He proved that he was who he said he was- the Son of God. When Jesus rose from the dead, he showed us that death could not keep him down. He conquered death once and for all.

The fact that Jesus rose from the dead proves that He is who He claimed to be – God in human flesh (John 10:17-18). It also proves that His sacrifice on our behalf was acceptable to God and sufficient to pay for our sins (1 Peter 3:18; Romans 4:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Because Jesus rose from the dead, we can have confidence that He will one day return to earth to judge the living and the dead (Acts 17:31; Revelation 20:11-15).
